Dedicated followers of fashion flock to the MQ

The third MQ Vienna Fashion Week will take place in 2011. For five days a marquee in the main courtyard of the Austrian capital's main cultural complex will welcome Austrian and international fashion designers as they present their latest collections. Creations by designers from Austria, Brazil, Georgia, Poland, Spain, and Thailand can be seen on the catwalk from September 14-18, 2011. Last year's MQ Vienna Fashion Week drew 10,000 visitors with a program that featured 46 fashion shows, exhibitions and showrooms.

Since it opened a decade ago, Vienna's MuseumsQuartier has gone from strength to strength as a center for the arts and culture, and fashion forms no small part of the city center complex's appeal. At quartier 21, the creative cluster for 21st century art and culture, couture plays a major role alongside digital media and design. Other fashion highlights at the MQ include the eclectic MQ Point shop which gives precedence to new works in its Designer of the Month slot, as well as the annual major fashion show at freiraum quartier21. Current show Get in the haze (until September 5, 2011) puts the spotlight on hybrid art forms by international fashion designers and artists.
